Join us as we travel to Washington, D.C., to serve at the 11th Annual Night to Shine event hosted by Waterfront Church D.C.!
Night to Shine is a prom-style event for students in the D.C. area who have special needs. Guests arrive in limousines and are cheered for as they walk the red carpet into the event. They can take photos at the step-and-repeat, play games, visit selfie stations, enjoy hair and makeup touch-ups, get their faces painted, sing karaoke, and dance the night away.
Each student is paired with a buddy for the evening to make their experience extra special. The event is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, and during the evening there’s a special message from Tim Tebow and the pastor of Waterfront Church reminding each guest how deeply God loves them and that they are kings and queens in His sight. Every participant receives a crown or tiara from their buddy before wrapping up the night with more dancing and celebration.
We’ll arrive on Thursday to help with final event preparations. The main event takes place on Friday evening from 5:00–10:00 PM at Nationals Ballpark. This is an incredible opportunity to show God’s love to kids who are often overlooked or misunderstood because of their challenges. Watching their faces light up is an unforgettable reminder that they are made in God’s image—just like everyone else!
On Saturday, we’ll spend the day sightseeing around the city, and on Sunday, we’ll attend Waterfront Church before heading home that afternoon.
We’ll have one training meeting before the trip to go over expectations and learn how to best serve and support the VIP guests at the event.
